Buffalo Breeding Application and Research Center was officially established.
Muş, which ranks 6th in Turkey in terms of buffalo presence, ranks 2nd in the TRB 2 region. The Muş Plain, where approximately 17 thousand heads of buffalo belonging to Muş and Bitlis provinces are raised, has an important potential in breeding and butchering buffalo breeding and buffalo dairy production.
Muş Alparslan University continues its education and R&D activities to develop buffalo breeding in Muş and neighboring provinces. In addition, it continues to carry out the Bitlis Province Buffalo Breeding Project jointly with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
The studies initiated by Muş Alparslan University for the establishment of Muş Alparslan University Buffalo Breeding Application and Research Center (MAN-MER) in 2021 were officially established with the approval of the Council of Higher Education and the publication of the Center Regulation in the Official Gazette dated 08.03.2024, number 32483. The center is Turkey's first Application and Research Center with R&D qualifications for the buffalo species.
Our Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican stated that they worked with great devotion on the project, which was initiated during the period of Prof. Dr. Fethi Ahmet POLAT, the former Rector of Muş Alparslan University, and expressed his sincere thanks to Prof. Dr. Fethi Ahmet POLAT, our Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Yaşar KARADAĞ and everyone who contributed to the project.
