Field Visit of Animal Production and Technologies Students to Karakaya Dairy Cattle Farm
Students from the Department of Animal Production and Technologies conducted a field visit to the Karakaya farm, operated by Hamdulsena Karakaya, located in Harman village, Muş Central District. This visit aimed to apply practically the knowledge they gained in the course “Identification and Herd Management in Animal Husbandry.”
During the visit, Dr. Onur Şahin provided hands-on training on various topics including biosecurity measures on the farm, grouping of cattle herds, care of calves, hygiene and colostrum management, structural features of barns for animal welfare in dairy cows, evaluation of feeding troughs, fecal scoring, total mixed ration, and particle analysis in corn silage.
